Daniel Colondona, who grew up on his strong Catholic Faith proudly served his country and community; joined the ARMY and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division where he served as a Combat Medic and later began his career as a Suffolk County Police Officer in the 3rd Precinct then later assigned to the Emergency Service Unit.
Daniel was very involved with his Parish at St. Mary's in East Islip as a Eucharist Minister where he would serve mass but would also pray and serve the host to people who were terminally ill. Daniel’s Faith got him through his most challenging times but always kept family first and never stopped giving back to the community.
On October 6, 1989, Daniel lost his battle with cancer. He was survived by his wife Patty and his two children, Kelly and Danny. During his illness Daniel relied solely on Faith and guts; his legacy lives on today with his two children and six grandchildren, one is following in his footsteps in the US Army and the men of the Emergency Service section where he so proudly served for 13 years. It is through Daniel’s legacy that the GOOD Foundation was created to provide support for families that lost a loved one who paid the ultimate sacrifice
